The Drupkelders

Deep rockpools along a Knysna forest trail

The Drupkelders (Dripping Cellars in Afrikaans) are rock pools along the  Homtini River, which runs through the Knysna forest. Take the 3.5km indigenous forest walk to find the pools.  They are a deep red colour from the tannins in the roots and leaves in the surrounding soil. Swimming is allowed but the water is icy cold. However, only 12 people are allowed inside Garden Route National Park at a time.
