Gerickes Point

Beach in Sedgefield

The official name is Lions Rock. There are many small rock pools.  This is a popular spot for fishermen. At high tide, it becomes an island but low tide is a great time to explore. Keep an eye on the tides if you plan to go snorkelling. The best time to snorkel in the tidal pools is during the spring low tide. This is when the water is the clearest and it is similar to swimming in an enclosed aquarium.. The tidal pools are perfect  for beginners and underwater photography with the abundant and colourful marine life living there.

The tidal pools are ideal for beginners and underwater photography with many of the colourful marine life living under the overhanging rock shelves. Experienced freedivers can dive in the open ocean on the rocky reefs around the peninsula, often the surf conditions can reduce visibility.

Moonlight Meander is a guided night tour of the marine ecology of the shoreline and tidal pools of Gericke’s Point.   072 390 6667
