Journey’s End Wines
Journey’s End Estate is a stunning family-owned winery and vineyard located in the Schapenberg region.
In 1995 the Gabb family, originally from Shropshire, UK, fell in love with this picturesque wine farm surrounded by 20 ha of gorgeous vineyards. They feel incredibly lucky to be nestled amongst the Schapenberg hills, beneath which lies 350 million-year-old decomposed granite soils. This creates one of the most prestigious terroirs in South Africa and is where our vines are planted. As well as fantastic views, our vineyards benefit from the cooling and cleansing south-easterly wind, known locally as the ‘Cape Doctor’, which comes in from nearby False Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.
Journey’s End Foundation
In August 2020 to bring together all of its existing and ongoing community projects, Journey’s End set up the NGO, Journey’s End Foundation.
The Foundation launched a meal programme began at the same time, to tackle hunger and extreme poverty in the Helderberg Region of Stellenbosch through a network of soup kitchens – largely as a result of the pandemic.
The goal was to provide 10,000 meals a week, and 520,000 within its first year. By September 2021, the Foundation reached the milestone of providing 1 million meals since its launch, almost doubling the initial target set out in 2020. Today, Journey’s End Foundation continues to provide over 30,000 meals a week
