Blackburn Ravine
Blackburn Ravine trail is a reasonably challenging 7.6-km loop trail that begins at the East Fort car park, not far from the tollbooth on Chapman’s peak.
The old cannon fort is worth exploring before you head off up the mountain. You then climb a series of steps that are quite strenuous, particularly as they’re at the beginning of the hike. After the fort, the trail heads up the ravine (The forest is beautiful) Then follow a series of zig-zags to a lookout with amazing ocean views. The path heads towards Chapman’s Peak. Most of the walk is easy, although there is a steep bit near the end. The hike has magnificent views all the way There is usually some fynbos in flower.
The top of Blackburn Ravine is a good place to stop for refreshment, For those who want to add a further leg, you can head off over the top via the Silvermine Crags, past the reservoir, and into Silvermine.
Your Dogs can join in and may be off-leash in some areas.
