Wolfgat Nature Reserve

Hiking and walking Educational programmes Picnics

This Reserve is the perfect destination for picnicking, fishing and paragliding. For safety reasons, all activities must take place in groups. The views from the Wolfgat Nature Reserve are spectacular from its limestone cliffs. The reserve is named after the brown hyena or strandwolf (Hyaenabrunnea), which was still found in Cape Town in the 1800s. A brown hyena fossil den site dating back to about 45 000 years ago was found in the Wolfgat cliffs in 1962.
