Boyes drive
Scenic drive in the South Peninsula
Boyes Drive is a 7 km stretch of road along the mountain above the False Bay coast. It provides stunning sunrise and ocean views as well as an abundance of wildlife spotting opportunities. The building of the road was first started in August 1896 and was completed in 1929. It is now a wonderful scenic drive that stretches from Lakeside, over Muizenberg and St James, and through to Kalk Bay. During autumn and winter, you can watch for whales from the lookout points along the drive. There are many hiking trails in the southern peninsular and several start from Boyes Drive. This route is known as the M75.
