Hike and swimming near Swellendam
The Breede river within the Bontebok National Park, in the Langeberg near Swellendam, The river flows east from the Ceres mountains towards the Indian Ocean, irrigating the Winelands on the way. Access to the river is within the park. Watersports and activities like swimming, and canoeing, are allowed. It’s a great picnic spot and swimming is safe in the calm waters. There are designated swimming spots along the river. Choose one of the paths alongside the river, or save your swim for after a hike. Angling is allowed with a permit, however, dogs are not allowed.
