The Breede River is wide and is one of South Africa’s best kite surfing spots. Traditional surfing is also good.
There are four top surf beaches:
- Dangles closest to the river mouth for experienced surfers
- Rondeklip is closer to Infanta. There is a big round rock where you drop into the wave;
- Kamakazi’s -to the left of the slipway.
- Johnny’s Corner is a right in the right-hand corner and works best with an east swell when the north wind blows.
- Fishing is also good here. The fish in the river are mostly grunter, cob, bream, steenbrass and kolstert. The Breede River also has the world record for the biggest bull shark/Zambezi ever caught, however, please check your fishing license as to whether you can catch any of these species,
