Dorpshuis Le Roux Museum
Museum in Oudtshoorn
The Dorpshuis Le Roux Museum is an old townhouse built in 1909 amid the Ostrich Feather Boom. It was customary for farmers to have a townhouse where they could overnight when they came to town to get supplies or for the quarterly Communion Service. For this reason, the townhouses were meant to be purely functional, however, the Le Roux townhouse stood out above the rest. It was designed by one of Oudtshoorn’s best-known architects, using modern finishings and local and imported materials.
