Forest Of Good Hope Walk

This Forest of Good Hope walk is moderately difficult and takes just over three hours. On the mountainside above Kalk Bay, you will find the Spes Bona Forest. The hike takes you up through a fynbos-covered slope and through the old twisted trees. There is a raised boardwalk in he forest where trees are sustained by water that constantly drips off the mossy cliff.

Access from Boyes Drive where there are parking spaces across the road from the start point  Look out for the Ou Kraal sign on the right-hand side. This will take you to the Old Mule path, a gentle contour that meets up with Ou Kraal off Boyes Drive. This is the easiest way to get up into the mountains above Kalk Bay and St James  If you park just above Kalk Bay you will be taking the steeper route directly up the Ou Kraal path.
