Gansbaai tidal pool is certainly a safer place to swim than the surrounding sea. This is because of the sharks that share the water. Shark diving is a popular activity in this area.
The pool is on Kus Weg in Perlemoenbaai which is the coastal road between Gansbaai town and De Kelders. The tidal pool has a smaller pool next to it for children. If you walk to the end of the wall, you will find some places where you can snorkel and see some fish, venturing into the kelp outside of the pool it is possible to dive for periwinkles. Permits can be obtained at the post office.
