Hartenbos Beach
Hartenbos is a blue flag beach near Mossel Bay is a wide sandy beach that’s perfect for families, swimming, surfing and walking. An added feature is that it offers easy access for wheelchair users with a series of ramps. The other facilities are world-class with clean ablution facilities and lots of parking .. Near the beach are many restaurants, shops and a heated indoor swimming pool.
The Hartenbos trail along the beach consists of marble slabs with extracts from the work of 16 Afrikaans poets from the past century. The poems are about the sea and South Africa’s maritime history. a
Dogs on leashes can be walked between the river mouth and Little Brak River, excluding the Blue Flag beach between the river mouth and the northern boundary of the parking lot. During the period from 1 February to 30 November, dog owners are allowed to walk their dogs between the hours of 06:00 and 20:00
