The Kalk Bay harbour lighthouse has a rich history. Its red-and-white-striped building is situated at the tip of the pier. Construction on the harbour began in 1913. The beach attached to the harbour was known as Fishery Beach. The 5 metre round tapered stone tower was installed on the Kalk Bay South Breakwater in 1919. The focal plane is 7m which gives one long red flash every 15 seconds.
