Wildflower garden in Paarl

The Meulwater Wild Flower Garden was established in 1932 by the ladies of the Paarl Beautifying Association. In order to preserve indigenous fynbos the ladies planted seeds, grew cuttings, and pruned the plants themselves The garden has several species of proteas, ericas, and fynbos. The pond, pathways, and the stone bridge were built by Italian POWs during the Second World War.

The reserve has a small parking area with a spot for people to picnic and even has a few formal braai spots.
