Milnerton Beach

Stunning views of Table Mountain from the beach

Milnerton Beach in the suburb of Blaauwberg has magnificent views of Table Mountain. The beach is patrolled by lifeguards during the peak season in December, but the waters here are cold compared with other beaches around the Cape because of the Benguela current which comes ashore here.

However, the consistent waves and exposed beach breaks make the beach popular with traditional surfers and kite surfers alike. Being open and unsheltered. Milnerton Beach gets wind from all directions and is often quite windy happily for the kite surfers.

There are some fashionable and trendy cafes and restaurants close by. Milnerton Beach is adjacent to the small island of Woodbridge which is separated from the mainland by a narrow palm-lined lagoon forming from the Diep River. The lighthouse here is well worth a visit.

Dogs are allowed before 9.00 am and after 6.00 pm between November and April.
