Milnerton Golf club
Milnerton Golf Course is probably the only true links golf course in Africa. It is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean on the west and a lagoon on the east and with spectacular views of Table Mountain. It is an 18-hole, par 72, 6101-metre challenge. The course was designed by Golf Data. The fairways on this lush links-type course are Kikuyu and the greens are Poa Bent mix. It is fairly flat with few trees.
It was established in 1913 when 6 holes were laid out and has since been developed into a world-class championship course based on the 9 out, 9 in concept typical of links courses in Scotland. The course is relatively flat but with the sea, the lagoon and the 7 beautiful water holes there is no shortage of challenges especially when the wind blows.
The course has hosted a number of PGA events as well as the South African Open. For a true links golfing experience the course is a must play for visitors to Cape Town.
