Monwabisi tidal pool is an enormous pool which is the biggest tidal pool in the Southern Hemisphere. The name is an isiXhosa word meaning ‘bringing joy’, It is part of the popular Monwabisi resort, and there are many picnic and braai sites close by, set out on the terraced lawn, also camping facilities and chalets are available as holiday accommodation.
It forms part of Strandfontein Beach and is located on the Cape Flats Coast on the northern tip of False Bay. There is a long sandy beach that offers safe swimming and numerous other water activities. The beach is sheltered from the wind by towering limestone cliffs, and the tidal pool is a safe and wind-free place to cool off.
