Museum of Dogs
The Museum of Dogs, the only museum of its kind in the world, is dedicated to celebrating dogs and exploring their role in history as comforters, friends, and workers through captivating stories and interactive displays. This is where you can learn the history of dogs in South Africa, see a photography exhibition, and ceramics display and read stories on memorable mutts (including famous presidential dogs). There’s also a listening station; of course, the museum is dog-friendly.
The museum is at 95 Keerom Street, circa 1682. It originally housed the stables and slave quarters of the Company Gardens. Many of the original elements, including the façade and brick walls, have been saved in the restoration process.
