Traut’s Tie Museum
2nd largest tie collection in the world on show in Vanrhynsdorp
Cecil Traut was a bartender who pulled pints in the local bar. Over the 60 years he worked there he made a collection of over 2400 ties each of which had been a gift. In his time he never bought a tie but each one has a story. It is not clear if he wore ties. Some of the ties are old, dating back to the 1800s and they come from far and wide. Before his death, Cecil asked the owner of the Country Lodge to keep the ties and keep the collection growing. Today they hang on the walls of the bar.
