Pinnacle point cave
The current theory of the true origin of modern humans is that all people alive today are descended from a small population of roughly 600 Africans living between 100 000 and 200 000 years ago. Pinnacle point is the centre of the Mossel Bay archaeology project which was formed to study the ancient middens found at Pinnacle Point caves. The discovery of these middens was made when surveys were done of the beach and golf resort. The caves are a series of caverns facing the sea at the southern boundary of the resort. It is estimated these middle stone age findings are about 170 000 and 40 000 years old. The diggings have revealed the earliest evidence of people exploiting marine resources for survival Visit the museum to learn more. Tours are a dual journey – one in space and time, and one within – creating awareness of the original human design, awakening the human spirit, and inspiring people to change the way they behave towards all life on our planet.
