Platboom and Olifantsbos
Platboom is a beach that takes some walking to get to. The beach is off the beaten track at Cape Point Nature Reserve. The walk towards the long sandy beach is pretty. Some of the wild animals occasionally wander down the nearby sand dunes and onto the beach. This is a beach perfect for long, quiet walks. There’s always the chance of spotting an ostrich, baboon, or antelope with the same idea as yours… to enjoy the sun and sand.
Olifantsbos Beach is also within the Cape Point reserve. it requires some driving from the main entrance. The drive is well worth it for the isolation and solitude. Olifantsbos is a small beach surrounded by fynbos. There is great birdlife around the lagoon. Several shipwrecks can be seen from this beach.
