Poessieshoek

Montagu Poesieshoek on Mill Street was built in 1886 in a Karoo Cape Georgian style, it was used as a hospital during the Spanish Flu pandemic. It stood empty for some time as it was believed to be haunted by the many people who died there. Then twin sisters moved in and ran it as a brothel – which is where the name is derived from (You will need to understand  Afrikaans to get this). Today it’s a private home.
