Ramskop Nature reserve
Ramskop is only 66 hectares overlooking Clanwilliam Dam and is known best for the flowers both local and exotic. The other attractions are hikes and watersports. There are great opportunities for boating. The area is rooibos tea country and fields of tea bushes, orange groves and the Cederberg mountains form a backdrop. There are beautifully laid-out paths through the garden which offer spectacular views over the Clanwilliam Dam. The wildflower garden has at least 350 species of wildflowers. During the season from about 11.00 am when the sun is high, you will be witness to the carpet of colour.
The reserve is maintained by the local municipality and a series of volunteers for it is without financial support
The reserve forms part of the Clanwilliam annual Wild Flower Show run by the Dutch Reformed Church. It runs for 10 days in spring.
The reserve is only 66 hectares and it is widely planted with Namaqualand wildflowers which represent the Knersvlakte, Richtersveld and Boesmanland biomes
Ramskop Wildflower Garden
In the theRamskop Wildflower Garden are 350 species of cultivated wildflowers. This is a highlight of Clanwilliam during spring There is a Tea Garden open in August and September where they serve sandwiches, cakes, pancakes, scones, also a meal of the day. Tel 027-482-2024.
