Sandy Bay
This beach is just south of Llandudno on the west side of the Karbonkelberg. The beach cannot be seen from the road at all. Sandy Bay is an unofficial “nudist beach”, There is no direct access for vehicles and the beach is relatively inaccessible. There are two ways to access the beach, 1) clamber over rocks from the south end of Llandudno or 2) take the roughly 20-minute walk from the car park at the northern end of Hout Bay. Walking on this beach you will pass rocky outcrops and an expansive shoreline of soft white sand. Sandy Bay is the only beach in South Africa where it is (unofficially) acceptable to bathe and suntan naked.

Rocket road trail
“Rocket Road is a stunning trail above Sandy Bay, leading out to the wreck of the Bos 400 which was a French crane barge that ran aground during a storm in 1994. It was being towed but the tug was not strong enough and the tow rope broke loose. The barge crashed into the rocks just south of Sandy Bay. It was too damaged to salvage and it has been resting and rusting there ever since.
