Fonteinhuis museum
Jongensfontein history
The history of Jongensfontein is carefully depicted in this little museum close to the swimming beach at Jongensfontein. It was originally built in 1940 by two well-known townspeople Wouter and Tobietta Du Preez. It is built from stones which were found on the beach. An anchor from the wreck of the Rezeki, stranded at Jongensfontein in 1971 is displayed outside the house. This style of building was common in the area. The conversion was made possible by a once-off fundraising effort by holidaymakers.
