The Buffelsjags dam
The Buffeljags Dam is a gravity/earth-fill type dam on the Buffeljags River. It was established in 1967 and renovated in 1983. The height of the wall is 24m and it is 335m wide. The surface area of the dam is 129ha and the capacity 5 200 000m3.Its purpose is mainly for irrigation and it is a beautiful body of water that is great for a day out. Each section of the dam is suited to a different activity: in the south, motorboats cruise with skiers and wakeboarders behind. To the east the fishing is good. Up the creek, canoeists can explore.
