The Garden Route Botanical Garden
The Garden Route Botanical Garden is situated at the base of the Outeniqua Mountains. There are 19 hectares of plants indigenous to the Southern Cape. The wide range of plant collections is divided into several thematic display beds. Each bed acts as an educational tour, displaying the usefulness of the specific plants both to humans and to the surrounding ecosystem. Small signboards offer insights into the plant life to enhance your appreciation of this floral kingdom
The garden is a public benefit organization aimed at the conservation of the unique flora of the Southern Cape region. There is a focus on fauna, flora, and the conservation of rare and threatened plant species.
The South Cape Herbarium and an Indigenous Nursery can be found here, as well as the Getafix Garden Cafe, and the Garden Route Environmental Education Centre.
