The Keurbooms River

The 85 km long Keurbooms River. has a catchment area of over 1,080 km2. It originates just south of Uniondale in the Langkloof and flows in a southeasterly direction. The Bitou River is its main tributary.  The Keurbooms River then passes the small settlement of De Vlugt and the Prince Alfred Pass, flowing on the northern side of the R340. It enters the Indian Ocean at the Keurbooms Estuary, close to  Plettenberg Bay.  

The Keurbooms River Nature Reserve ph: 044 533 2125 is about 6 kilometres east of Plettenberg Bay on the N2. A permit is needed for access to this reserve. There are self-catering cottages available. There is also a camping space with ablution facilities. Enjoy this reserve from a canoe or rowing boat
