The Riviersonderend mountains

The Riviersonderend Mountains are within the Cape Fold Belt. They are named after the Sonderend River. This was a literal translation of the original Khoi name  Kannakamkanna, meaning river without end. The mountain range is placed East to West from Riviersonderend to Villiersdorp. The highest peak ( Pilaarkop 1654m) is close to McGregor.  This range separates the Breede Valley from the Overberg. The mountains are comprised of Table Mountain sandstone and the range is covered in Fynbos.
