The Two Oceans Aquarium
The Two Oceans Aquarium is a window into the spectacular oceans surrounding the South African coast. There are over 8,000 living sea animals in the aquarium. These include sharks, fish, turtles, and penguins.
Penguin comics
Every day at around lunchtime, the penguins walk through the exhibit to and from their “beach” post, The African penguin colony is fed by the penguin keepers at 11.30 each day.
Shark feeding
Scuba divers hand-feed the stingrays and larger fish at the I&J Ocean Exhibit at 12.30.. You can also see ragged-tooth sharks being fed in the Save Our Seas Foundation (SOSF) Shark Exhibit (on Saturdays only)
Special features
Displayed with a glow-in-the-dark effect, is a gallery of jellyfish. Puppet shows for children aged 3 to 9 featuring shows some of the ocean’s most lovable characters take place at 10.30 am, 1.30 pm and 3.30 pm daily. There’s also an arts and crafts section with a marine theme.
Tours offer a glimpse into the aquarium behind the scenes a guided tour is your opportunity to see the animals and exhibits from a different perspective The tour is 75 minutes long and caters for eight people at a time. experience@aquarium.co.za.
Diving at the aquarium
To dive at the aquarium, you will need an open Water One or Discover Scuba qualification,. There are three different scuba diving opportunities You can dive with ragged-tooth sharks (no cage required) shoals of large predators, rays and a turtle in the SOSF Shark Exhibit, swim with stingrays in the I&J Ocean Exhibit or discover the ocean wonders in the Kelp Forest Exhibit where fish are swimming around kelp two storeys high. There are species here that are found nowhere else in the world, Contact dive@aquarium.co.za If you have not dived before you can get certified with the Two Oceans Aquarium Dive School, or do a half-day PADI Discover Scuba Diving Course and dive in the aquarium’s I&J Ocean Exhibit on the same day.
Venue
On site are several spaces that can be hired for every kind of work event, You can book out a big conference room (screens and wifi available) or you can even plan your year-end party at the aquarium. To book a venue, email functions@aquarium.co.za
Entrance
The aquarium offers visitors a special discount after 3 pm. See the magical world of the aquarium at a reduced rate It is valid for tickets bought at the on-site ticket office to be used on the same day. Entrance is free on your birthday, if you cannot make it your birthday, you have 6 days’ grace during which you can get a free pass. There is a pensioners discount that applies every day.
Membership
