The Upper Liesbeek river garden park

Park in Newlands

There is a small park/garden on the upper Liesbeek River opposite Almond Park. There are picnic tables and chairs made from tree stumps. There are trails to walk along. You can paddle in the shallow water. There is a safe stepping stone river crossing. The Liesbeek River is 9 km long and it passes from Kirstenbosch through the suburbs of Newlands, Rondebosch, and Rosebank, and ends where it meets the Black Rivier close to Mowbray and Observatory.

The Garden is a community initiative for the rehabilitation, conservation, and maintenance of this natural area. Be sure to help preserve its natural beauty when you visit. Always dispose of any litter responsibly, and do not leave dog droppings for others to deal with.
