The Wolfberg cracks and Arch hike

The Wolfberg Cracks hike is a challenging 4.99 km out-and-back trail that takes between 2 to 3 hours to finish. The trail is well-signposted and easy to follow. However, it is quite steep. The cracks are impressive and worth the effort.

This is an 11.91 km, challenging out-and-back trail that takes between 4 and 5 hours. The steep climb at the beginning of the trail is the hardest part but the rest is an enjoyable hike on flatter terrain. There is some tight scrambling involved like getting through the narrow crack, but the effort is worth it for the outstanding views. There is very little shade along the way so be sure to be prepared. A permit is needed which can be obtained from the Sandrif farm main office or
you can purchase permits and a map from the office at Dwarsrivier or Algeria Forest Station (Cape Nature HQ for the Cederberg Wilderness) A padlocked gate with a gate code has to be passed before you can begin the hike.

         

The Wolfberg Arch is on Cape Nature property, so you need an additional permit if you plan on going there too. The Cederberg Wilderness Area that they manage is divided into 3 Areas: Wolfberg Arch is in Area B The route is fairly easy, with some scrambling
