The wreck of the Nostra Senhora de los Milagros
This Portuguese ship wrecked at Cape Agulhas in 1686. It was transporting gifts from the King of Siam to the Kings of Portugal, France and England. These gifts have never been found. However, there are tales of men who were sent to salvage the cargo and who mysteriously became fabulously wealthy. Beautiful carved ivory pieces have been recovered from the site but the jewelry which was documented to have been on board has not been found.
