Wilderness Island Lake
Wilderness Island Lake is a fishermen’s paradise. The Touw and Serpentine rivers merge further up the lake offering anglers a great habitat to explore.
The Touw River offers great snorkelling opportunities, the water is crystal clear and is roughly 3 meters deep. You can see saltwater and freshwater fish swimming together, such as Cape Moonies, Leeries, Mullet, and Grunter.
Fishing can be done from the lake edge but it is advisable to get a canoe to travel further out for a better chance of a catch. Â A slipway is provided at the local resort. There is an abundance of indigenous trees here, where over 280 species of bird life can be found. and there are masses of photo opportunities.
Fishing permits are available at the local post office.
