This is a pretty village on the road to Malmesbury which grew from a small parish of the Dutch Reformed Church. It was established in 1863 when a local farmer donated a portion of his land to the church which is still standing in the town’s centre
The history is still evident in the well-preserved old buildings The town’s name, meaning “brotherly love” in Greek, reflects its origins as a close-knit community. The village consists of a few streets in a rural setting.
Today, Philadelphia is popular for its art galleries, craft shops, and cosy cafes. It’s a great spot for a day trip from Cape Town, especially for those interested in local arts and crafts or just looking to enjoy the countryside.
The restaurant “The Pepper Tree” is in the stables of the original farm.
The postcode is 7304 ( Boxes only)
